The Montana Medical Savings Account (MSA) is a self-directed account that allows Montana residents to save for federally deductible medical expenses, including out of pocket medical insurance and long term care premiums as well as other personal care expenses. The contribution and any earnings are excluded from Montana taxable income. For tax year 2024, the maximum contribution is $4500 per taxpayer/$9000 married filing jointly, with annual increases adjusted for inflation. Be sure to fund the account by the December 31, 2024 deadline.
